20 Things I Wish Vaccine Junkies Would Admit

pigs

  1. Not all of the diseases we vaccinate children for are serious or appropriate.  Many of them are a matter of inconvenience and some are for manufactured epidemics: Hep B, HPV, chickenpox, flu.  This isn’t to minimize the rare adult or child death from chickenpox but that number is 1/40th of the deaths from vaccine-induced SIDS.
  2. Immunity from vaccines doesn’t last forever.  Most adults would be considered “unvaccinated” today for everything but the viral diseases they naturally acquired. Even if you buy into the theory of herd immunity, most of our herd is not immune.
  3. True herd immunity is based on animals that naturally acquired viral disease.  Oftentimes immunity comes from eating the herd members that died from the disease or putting their diarrhea into feed. Farmers know that herd immunity isn’t based on vaccination.
  4. You are not really vaccinating your newborn child for the benefit of your neighbors. You are vaccinating out of fear of your child dying of a disease, which makes you just as much of a “selfish a-hole” as the “anti-vaxer” who is looking out for their own child.   And that’s fine, but you should at least admit it.
  5. It isn’t even possible to attain immunity to bacteriaThey evolve too fast to keep up with, which is why the FDA and the CDC blame vaccine failure, not the unvaccinated, for pertussis outbreaks.  Go ahead and click all over the CDC website and let me know where they blame unvaccinated children for the recent rise in pertussis infection.
  6. Unvaccinated children are not carrying bacteria and viruses that vaccinated children don’t carry. They all carry the same germs and they all can get susceptible people sick.
  7. Coming into contact with a “germ” doesn’t guarantee you will get sick. We are bombarded with bacteria and viruses all day long. People who get sick are those who have malfunctioning or immature immune systems, such as people who eat fake food, genetically modified food, have wrecked gut bacteria, take antibiotics or steroids, suffer from extreme stress, and children under the age of 3 who have immature immune systems. Children are supposed to get sick a few times a year; it’s how they strengthen their immune systems for adulthood.
  8. The vast majority of children with the new “normal” autoimmune diseases are vaccinated: asthma, allergies, and eczema. The vast majority of completely unvaccinated children do not have these chronic illnesses. Yes, there are a few unvaccinated autoimmune kids that were born to unwell mothers, or received antibiotics at a young age, or who were particularly vulnerable to the effects of pesticides and GMOs, but those kids are the rare ones. There is a reason that no study of the unvaccinated has been done in America.
  9. The long-term safety of the current vaccination schedule has never been tested.  I don’t have a link for this one because it’s impossible to prove a negative, but Congressman Posey has been trying to get one done for years.
  10. Vaccines are not tested for safety against a true inert placebo. They are tested against other vaccines that are already deemed safe, or they are tested against aluminum. Never just saline.
  11. The real danger to immunocomprised children on chemotherapy is the shedding of live vaccines, not unvaccinated children. This includes FluMist, Rotateq, the MMR and the chickenpox vaccines. Both St. Jude and Johns Hopkins warn patients to stay away from recently vaccinated children. Notably absent from that list is staying away from the unvaccinated.
  12. Vaccine injury isn’t really all that rare and it certainly isn’t a nice convenient “one in a million.” When, within hours or weeks of vaccination, a child has seizures, lethargy, can no longer suckle, maintain body temperature, is struggling to breathe, goes unconscious, has a high-pitched cerebral scream, quits speaking, begins banging the head, has days or weeks of diarrhea, develops food allergies, eczema, asthma, diabetes, or arthritis, that child is vaccine injured. You’d better get used to it because they are everywhere.
  13. Not all autistic children are quirky and super advanced in a favorite subject area. One quarter are non-verbal, many are never potty-trained, and one third have seizures. Many are never able to show their parents how much they love them, much less advance to 12th-grade math at 8 years old.
  14. It is a fallacy to say that you’d rather have an autistic child than a dead one. Autistic children die all the time from seizures, bowel disease, brain damage, and drowning.  The mortality rate of autistics is twice that of the general population.
  15. Most “anti-vaxers” already vaccinated at least one child.  They trusted their doctors and sacrificed one for the herd.  Maybe “former-vaxers” is a more accurate term.
  16. Less than 1% of the population of today’s children are completely unvaccinated. You are really chasing a minute amount of people and playing it up like it’s an epidemic.  Get a hold of yourselves.
  17. Most childhood vaccine exemptions are for the infant doses of Hepatitis B.  Call any preschool that accepts exemptions and they will tell you that. This “10-15% of parents who don’t vaccinate” flaunted in the media are parents who wanted to wait a few years before giving their kids a vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease.  Not pertussis, not measles.  Hepatitis B.
  18. The medical establishment is responsible for killing over 400,000 people per year. That is a fact. It is mind-boggling that this same establishment commands us to inject our newborns with vaccines and we are to trust them without question.
  19. The Vaccine Injury Compensation Program was created to protect public health policy and the national vaccine program.  It was not created to actually assist parents of vaccine injured children in being compensated and it is failing at doing that anyway.
  20. Pharmaceutical medicine is a business, from cradle to grave.  They do not have your, or your child’s, best interest at heart.  That is indisputable.

    1. 1) WTF is vaccine-induced SIDS? The link is just a link to the SIDS page, with no allegation that vaccines play any part in SIDS. In addition, none of the diseases listed were “manufactured”, and the vaccines came about because they can be very serious. My baby sister had a really bad case of chicken pox, and if she’d caught it a year earlier, it might’ve killed her. Also, HPV??? The MOST COMMON STD which can cause cervical cancer? Wow.

      2) I am happy to go for my boosters, as are most of us, and we admit vaccines don’t last forever.

      3) No true Scotsman fallacy.

      4) Sure it’s partly selfish, but my self-interest and my interest in the general good coincidentally lead me to the same actions!

      5) From the first paragraph of your link:
” Based on an animal model, the study conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and published November 25, 2013, in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, shows that acellular pertussis vaccines licensed by the FDA are effective in preventing the disease among those vaccinated, but suggests that they may not prevent infection from the bacteria that causes whooping cough in those vaccinated or its spread to other people, including those who may not be vaccinated.”
So the vaccine works for the people vaccinated, but does not provide herd immunity for this specific disease. Maybe either don’t lie, or read what you’re linking?

      6) You link to something about pertussis, which as discussed by your previous link, can be carried despite vaccination. That doesn’t prove the claim you make, that they carry all the same germs.

      7) I agree with the bolded statement, but the idea that genetically modified foods have anything to do with getting sick is ludicrous and completely unsupported by any facts. You don’t even try to pretend you have any to support the idea!

      8) Several other people have mentioned that there seems to be conflation of autoimmune disorders with immuno-compromised individuals. The fact that very few people have these disorders is not enough reason to deny them herd immunity, barring other compelling reasons, which we haven’t seen yet. You’ve still got 12 points, so maybe?

9, 10) True, because it doesn’t pass ethical standards. Vaccines are so safe and effective that denying their application, especially to a group of people unaware of this fact, would be exceedingly unethical. We admit this all the time.

      11) They specifically state that anyone exposed to a disease should stay away. This is because that would cause a risk to immuno-compromised patients. Sure, live virus vaccines would be dangerous for such patients. That’s why they don’t get them! They are effective and valuable for everyone else though!

      12) Post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy. See the story of the child who had a seizure just BEFORE vaccination. If that seizure comes just after, you point to it as evidence for the danger of vaccines. Still, studies have not found harms from vaccines that approach the harms of the diseases they prevent.

      13) True, and not related to vaccines.

      14) What fallacy is that? I would rather my child have autism than be dead, that’s a preference. It is, however, irrelevant to this discussion, as there has never been a link between vaccines and autism.

      15) Not sure that I can admit that, I’d need evidence, but I’m open to the possibility that it is true.

      16) But what portion of children are completely vaccinated? A kid having 0 vaccinations or 1 vaccination is barely different. http://kff.org/other/state-indicator/percent-who-are-immunized/ says that 75% of kids are completely vaccinated. So we’re chasing a quarter of the conversation. This is a strawman/red herring.

      17) Any evidence for this? Why all the arguments about autism and such if you’re just worried about the Hep B vaccine? I’m skeptical of this one.

      18) And how many people do they save every year? Regardless, hospital staff are not typically vaccine researchers. But if you don’t trust your doctor for anything, don’t go when you’re sick. Then they won’t kill you. Weird how better medicine has lead to such longer life expectancy though… Nah, probably just coincidence.

      19) Might be true, but irrelevant to safety of vaccines.

      20) Yes, and treating illness is far more profitable than dispensing a vaccine. That forbes article about the 400,000 deaths a year said that the cost of treating an infection at a surgical site was $39,000. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/vfc/awardees/vaccine-management/price-list/ Top costs for a vaccine are around $120, many are $10-20. Do the math.

Ultimately, vaccines have been studied, and demonstrated to be safe, and better than the old boom/bust cycles based on infection, death, immunity.

      1. Oh thank god.
The HPV one drove me crazy! #1: Not serious? HPV isn’t serious? It is single handedly responsible for 70% of ALL cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is the #2 most diagnosed gynecological cancer, and was once the number one cancer killer for women. I consider womens health serious, even if this author doesn’t. HPV vaccine is literally the closest thing we have to a cure for cancer. Studies have found it 100% effective in preventing what causes 70% of cervical cancers, and people don’t want it?? Seems strange that people will fund-raise, run/walk/bike, buy pink ribbons all in the name of finding a cure, and yet we have an vaccine that will LITERALLY PREVENT cancer, and people don’t want it. I can’t understand that.

      2. One reason people may not want Gardasil is that it causes 5-20 times the rate of potentially fatal anaphylaxis of other childhood vaccines. That’s still a minute risk – less than 3 per 100,000 shots – but the vaccine was rushed into mass distribution before the increased risk was discovered, so patients were unable to make an informed choice.

The facts about HPV vaccines are not yet in. No-one knows how long protection is likely to last, what their long term effects may be nor what the future prevalence of oncogenetic HPV strains they fail to address may be. But so far the evidence is looking very good that they will significantly reduce rates of cervical and anal cancer.

If all the facts were on the table people would be able to make informed decisions and, I believe, they would overwhelmingly opt for Gardasil. But unfortunately many vaccine advocates are no more interested in informing consumers than are vaccine skeptics. And the truth is there have been some disasters caused by precisely the sort of premature mass rollout of improperly tested vaccines we have seen with Gardasil.

Personally I think vaccines are overwhelmingly positive medical interventions. But contrary to the claims of many pro-vaccine propagandists they are not without risk. And their implementation is often driven more by the profit motive than by public health best practice.

As long as both sides of the vaccine debate deploy misleading propaganda it is understandable that those unable to do their own research (or evaluate it) will be confused as to who to believe. But the anti-vaxxers have very little but misleading propaganda, so those in favour of vaccines should refuse to meet them on their own grounds and stick to the facts. After all, the facts are overwhelmingly in favour of vaccination.

In the German case-control study and US open-label safety study in which 14,971 infants received Tripedia vaccine, 13 deaths in Tripedia vaccine recipients were reported. Causes of deaths included seven SIDS, and one of each of the following: enteritis,Leigh Syndrome, adrenogenital syndrome, cardiac arrest, motor vehicle accident, and accidental drowning. All of these events occurred more than two weeks post immunization.
        – The rate of SIDS observed in the German case-control study was 0.4/1,000 vaccinated infants. The rate of SIDS observed in the US open-label safety study was 0.8/1,000 vaccinated infants and the reported rate of SIDS in the US from 1985-1991 was 1.5/1,000 live births. By chance alone, some cases of SIDS can be expected to follow receipt of whole-cell pertussis DTP or DTaP vaccines

Adverse events reported during post-approval use of Tripedia vaccine include idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, SIDS, anaphylactic reaction, cellulitis, autism, convulsion/grand mal convulsion, encephalopathy, hypotonia, neuropathy, somnolence and apnea. Events were included in this list because of the seriousness or frequency of reporting. Because these events are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequencies or toestablish a causal relationship to components of Tripedia vaccine.

You sister probably caught chicken pox from someone who had recently been vaccinated. It’s called live viral vaccine shedding. *****It was thus that I learnt that our vaccines are a veritable soup, made up not just of viruses that should or should not be there, but also thousands of bits of viruses and of cells, DNA and RNA genetic codes, proteins, enzymes, chemicals and perhaps oncogenes and prions. The vaccine was monitored for the presence of only a very few of these particles and vaccine lots are thrown away only if these are found.

*****In other words, the vaccines we give our children are liquids filled with a host of unknown particles, most of which came from the cells of non-humans: from chickens, monkeys, or even from cancer cells. Truly we do not know what we are doing or what are the long-term consequences. All that is known for sure is that vaccines are a very cheap form of public medicine often provided by governments to ensure the public that they really do care for the safety of our children.

In her two books “Fear of the Invisible & “The Vaccine Papers” after attending over a decade of government level vaccine meetings in the US and the UK, attended by all the vaccine manufactures, government officials, scientist and researchers from around the world, she documents the remarkable and worrying findings of an independent investigation into the development and manufacture of today’s vaccines.

One of the things Roberts talks about in her books is the scientist have been experimenting with vaccines grown on human tumors. This has been going on for decades. Hasn’t anyone wondered why childhood cancers are off the chart? In 2012 the pharmaceutical companies finally decided to get “authorized approval ” from the FDA to grown vaccines on human tumor cells. Link to FDA transcript at end of paragraph. In the transcript the vaccine makers and the FDA openly talk about not knowing if the vaccines will cause cancer even though they know it will take decades to find this out. They talk about how they are going to spin this information to the Doctors to get them to not disclose to the public what has been done. They also talk about how they are going to spin the package insert.

        Whooping Cough Vaccine:
Nearly a century after the release of the whooping cough (B. Pertussis) vaccine, mounting evidence suggests that widespread mandated use of the vaccine could potentially be doing more harm than good in the long term—in addition to having been found lacking in the effectiveness department. As reported by The Washington Post:

“The research suggests that while the vaccine may keep people from getting sick, it doesn’t prevent them from spreading whooping cough — also known as Pertussis — to others.

‘It could explain the increase in Pertussis that we’re seeing in the US,’ said one of the researchers, Tod Merkel of the Food and Drug Administration…

The study, titled: “Acellular Pertussis vaccines protect against disease but fail to prevent infection and transmission in a nonhuman primate model,” used infant baboons to test the hypothesis that “current acellular pertussis vaccines fail to prevent colonization and transmission” of B. Pertussis. (there is no vaccine for Bordetella Pertussis virus) http://www.pnas (dot) org/content/111/2/787

Lead author Tod Merkel did comment to the New York Times that when exposed to B. Pertussis after recently getting vaccinated, you could be an asymptomatic carrier and infect others, saying:

“When you’re newly vaccinated, you are an asymptomatic carrier, which is good for you, but not for the population.”

A major victory has been achieved for science with the recent re-publishing of Professor Gilles-Eric Seralini’s study on genetically-modified (GM) corn treated with Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide. “Now the study has passed a third peer review arranged by the journal that is republishing the study, Environmental Sciences Europe.”

Many scientists agree, having voiced their support for the integrity and accuracy of this important study. Dr. Michael Antoniou, a molecular geneticist based out of London, told GMOSeralini.org that the three expert reviews through which Seralini’s study was subjected serve as a “testament to its rigor, as well as to the integrity of the researchers.

        “herd immunity”
Herd Immunity doesn’t exist. Never has. The OBSERVATION by A.W. Hedrich, has no basis in vaccine-induced antibody production. Herd immunity is not an immunologic idea, but rather an epidemiologic construct. The construct has nothing to do with VACCINATIONS. The OBSERVATION was done in 1930-31, reported in 1933. VACCINATIONS were not a part of the observation because the measles vaccine was not developed and distributed until the first one in 1963.

HERD IMMUNITY IS A DEVIOUS CON PERPETUATED UPON THE POPULACE TO SCARE THEM INTO COMPLIANCE OF THE VACCINATION PROGRAM.

“what portion of children are completely vaccinated?”

        American Children Highly Vaccinated
In August and September (2013) the CDC published annual reports that once again confirmed American children are among the most highly vaccinated in the world. In 2012, 95% of children entering kindergarten had gotten two MMR shots and so had more than 90% of high school students. About 1.8% of kindergarten children had a medical or personal belief exemption to vaccination on file with schools.

Bottom line: 95% of the approximately 75 million children under age 18 have gotten two doses of MMR vaccine and there is also a high measles vaccination rate among young adults in their 20’s and mid-30’s because, since 1981, 95% of all children entering kindergarten have received at least one dose of MMR vaccine and three or more doses of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis and polio containing vaccines.

American children are among the most highly vaccinated in the world with the exception of Korea.

1976: 1 child in 30 was learning disabled
→2013: 1 child in 6 is learning disabled.

        1980: 1 child in 27 had asthma
        →2013: 1 child in 9 has asthma.

        →2013: 1 child in 400 has diabetes.

THREE TIMES AS MANY VACCINATIONS FOR CHILDREN
1953: CDC recommended 16 doses of 4 vaccines (smallpox, DPT) between two months and age six.
1983: CDC recommended 23 doses of 7 vaccines (DPT, MMR, polio) between two months and age six.
2013: CDC recommended 49 doses of 14 vaccines between day of birth and age six and 69 doses of 16 vaccines between day of birth and age 1.

Over 50% of children have a chronic condition and 1 in 6 have a neurodevelomental disorder (aka vaccine caused brain injury). Autism and autoimmune disorders are skyrocketing. Injecting aluminum, mercury, aborted fetal tissue, formaldehyde, MSG, diseased monkey kidney, etc. does not bring health.
Trends in the Prevalence of Developmental Disabilities in US Children, 1997–2008

CONCLUSIONS: Developmental disabilities are common and were reported in ~1 in 6 children in the United States in 2006–2008. The number of children with select developmental disabilities (autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and other developmental delays) has increased, requiring more health and education services. Additional study of the influence of risk-factor shifts, changes in acceptance, and benefits of early services is needed.

*****LOL. The US life expectancy has tanked over the last decade. The US has one of the highest Infant Mortality rates in the world:

The US has 6.7 deaths based on 1000 live birth. The highest in the industrialized world. What does the US do that other countries don’t? They push vaccines onto pregnant women such as the FLU & DPT which have 25mcg of mercury and does cross the blood brain barrier of the Mom and baby. Now the Vaccine Jihadist are pushing the MMR. Immediately after birth Hep B is pushed. No one wonder babies are dying.

The US also has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world DESPITE the fact that the US has the highest health care cost: Infant mortality rate United States of America ranks 169 out of 224 countries.
Infant mortality rate compares the number of deaths of infants under one year old in a given year per 1,000 live births in the same year. This rate is often used as an indicator of the level of health in a country.

      4. You’re a real card elnura1.

First you take the medical community to task for equating the extremely strong correlation between HPV and cervical cancer to causality (I presume that you also think the link between smoking and lung cancer is just another coincidence) then you cite studies which you imply show that all or most infant deaths following Tripedia inoculations are caused by the vaccine (including death by car accidents apparently).

The CDC’s own research has found that the long denied vaccine-SIDS link is real.

Then why does the CDC still insist there is no evidence for a causal link between vaccines and SIDS and cite research to support their claim?

      8. Try this link for research into SIDS and vaccines:

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3170075/

You seem to be unaware that most of the diseases against which children are now vaccinated were in decline long before vaccines, and in societies where nutrition, hygiene and sanitation are optimal, were minor. They also provided the benefit of lifelong immunity which vaccine induced disease canno.

Prior to the mid Seventies, in the West, kids got these diseases, went to bed for a couple of days and that was it. Parents, with the encouragement of doctors, would get their children together with whoever was sick so they could get measles or whatever, get over it, get immunity and get on with it. Measles parties!!

This situation applied to most in Western countries from the early 20th century, since most had good nutrition, hygiene and sanitation. My kids, myself, my parents, my grandparents and given the fact that Australia has always had high levels of nutrition and hygiene compared to many other places, even great-grandparents an great-greats, had these diseases and no-one died.

The US does everything to excess and vaccination is no different. You also have the highest infant mortality rate – Third World levels- and the highest rates of diabetes, obesity, allergies, autism, cancer etc., in your children. Only a fool would not look at vaccination as a possible cause.

Vaccines do not save anyone. Optimal nutrition, sanitation and hygiene save many. To be fair, the US, yet another first, has the highest levels of poverty in the developed world; the worst diets; the most processed food; worst infrastructure and provision of utilities; you consume most of the world’s pharmaceuticals so you are always going to be less healthy.

Vaccines by the way have not been studied and found to be safe. Another myth.

      1. I don’t know where you get your information from Dave. If you’re looking at vaccine safety studies, one fundamental flaw in the majority of them is that they only look at the vaccine in relation to the adverse reaction ONE AT A TIME.

So if you’re reading studies that say that there is no link between SIDS and vaccination, look deeper. You’ll probably find that the study says that there is no link between HiB and SIDS, no link between DTaP and SIDS, no link between IPV and SIDS, no link between Hep B and SIDS, etc.

Therefore, the studies conclude, there is no relationship between vaccines and SIDS.

If this is how you want to interpret scientific studies, then all the power to you.

To me, that kind of study is like taking a group of smokers who smoke a variety of cigarette brands a day and then looking at the relationship to lung cancer:

There is no link between Malboro and lung cancer
There is no link between Camel and lung cancer
There is no link between Winston and lung cancer

Therefore, cigarettes are not associated to lung cancer.

Obviously you see the fundamental flaws if there was a study conducted in this fashion.

        1) The study only looks at people who smoke
        2) The study only compares one brand of cigarette to lung cancer when the case group smokes a variety of cigarettes.

You know that the proper way to know if cigarettes are associated to lung cancer is to take a group of NON-SMOKERS and compare them to the SMOKERS group.

Do those studies compare against children who are completely unvaccinated? Or do they compare against those who have taken X vaccine and those who are “unvaccinated” with X vaccine (all the while they are still taking other vaccines).

      2. There’s a pretty good write up on DTP / SIDS here:

        http://www.naturalnews.com/042727_infants_sudden_death_vaccines.html

“In Japan, from 1970 through 1974, there were 37 documented sudden infant deaths following pertussis vaccinations, inciting parents and doctors to reject the shot. In 1975, Japanese authorities reacted to these events by raising the age of vaccination from three months to two years. As a result, the number of vaccine injury compensation claims that were paid out for sudden deaths following vaccination dropped from 37 cases during a 5-year period to just 3 cases during the next 6-and-a-half years (from 1975 through August of 1981). The sudden death rate following vaccination dropped from 1.47 to 0.15 deaths per million doses — a 90% improvement.[23,24] In addition, from the early 1970s (a period when 3-month-old infants were vaccinated) to the mid-1980s (ten years after the age of vaccination was raised to 2 years) the Japanese infant mortality rate (infant deaths per 1,000 live births) dramatically declined from 12.4 to 5.0 — a 60 percent drop![25]”

      3. Vierra Scheibner’s research on SIDS very clearly showed a link between SIDS and vaccination. Computerized “breathing records” on babies consistently showed that vaccination seriously disturbed babies’ breathing patterns during sleep. The “stress-induced breathing pattern” Scheibner identified was characterized by a dramatic decrease in the depth of breathing; these babies were inhaling and exhaling only about 5% as much air as normal during their periods of SIBP. I suspect that in many cases, it was the combination of SIBP and the presence of heavier-than-air neurotoxic mold gases (from fungus-ridden mattresses) that was fatal.

She has claimed to have been persecuted by the ‘Australian Crib Death Management Center’ because she told parents they had referred to her that vaccines can cause SIDS. Apart from how bizarre it would be for a medical group to refer people to a paleontologist in the first place is the fact there is not and has never been an ‘Australian Crib Death Management Center’. ‘Crib’ is an Americanism we don’t use here in Australia, much less in official titles. Nor do we spell ‘centre’ the American way.

Sometimes it does , sometimes it doesn’t same with immunity from having the actual disease , this has been said a million times.

True herd immunity is based on animals that naturally acquired viral disease

There’s just herd immunity , not “True” or whatever concept you’re making up. Several peer reviewed studies have been done proving it’s worth.

it isn’t even possible to attain immunity to bacteria. They evolve too fast to keep up with, which is why the FDA and the CDC blame vaccine failure,

You are the one making things up.and if pharm companies made so little off of it they wouldn’t be trying to force people to vaccinate now. Or all their jobs would go bye bye because their frauds are being exposed and they know it. Clearly you don’t know as much as you say you do otherwise you would know everything that was written has to do with vaccines. The only things doctors are good for are broken bones, UTIS and minute things of that nature. Anything else they just try to shove pills down your throat. There is no money in healthy people or dead people only sick people. She doesn’t need a citation for anti vaxxers mostly used to vaccinate. Ask any anti vax person yourself why they don’t vaccinate. 98 % of the time it’s because they vaccinated and had a vaccine injury either with their child, theirselves or someone close to them. The other percentages were lucky enough to learn about the horrors before they vaccinated their babies. I was unlucky to be vaccinated my whole life and I had seizures for years until is stopped vaccinating myself, and almost died from spinal meninjitis a week after getting vaccinated for it. So I would never put my son through that. And the only weird obsession is you responding to everything this person said with unintelligent responses! Shedding has A LOT / EVERYTHING to do with the rest of the world. It doesn’t matter if the person has cancer or not the point is certain vaccines shed the live virus so you can’t just blame kids who aren’t vaccinated when newly vaccinated kids can spread the diseases as well! If I were you I would do a bit more research because your comebacks are weak and anyone with a little bit of knowledge on the subject can see you’re phony.

    6. Hygiene Hypothesis, give me a break.

The Hygiene Hypothesis bases itself on the idea that during childhood that we have imbalance of Th1 and Th2 immune responses.

The Hygiene Hypothesis says that because we are so clean, and because we don’t often get sick from natural diseases, that we don’t produce the Th1 response that is usually associated to natural infection, and so our immune response is skewed towards Th2.

Th1 is generally cell-mediated immunity, whereas Th2 is generally humoral (antibody) immunity.

However, and I don’t know why this isn’t address by you, vaccines induce a strong Th2 response, but rarely Th1.

If you want to talk about Th1 and Th2 imbalance, rather than looking at the lack of being exposed to natural infection and having a lower Th1 response, how about you look at why Th2 may be stimulated more often via vaccination?

And since you care about citation, it’s not hard to find how aluminum adjuvants stimulate a Th2 response:

Aluminium hydroxide adjuvant initiates strong antigen-specific Th2 responses in the absence of IL-4- or IL-13-mediated signaling.

      Vaccine Adjuvant: Aluminium hydroxide gel
“Alhydrogel® adjuvant 2%, referred to as alum, is an aluminium hydroxide wet gel suspension. Alum induces a Th2 response by improving the attraction and uptake of antigen by antigen-presenting cells”

Vaccine adjuvants: Current state and future trends
      http://www.nature.com/icb/journal/v82/n5/full/icb200475a.html

“Although alum is able to induce a good antibody (Th2) response, it has little capacity to stimulate cellular (Th1) immune responses which are so important for protection against many pathogens.”

I think I’ve made my point.

And no, the only bodily fluid it is passed through is the kind with blood in it. reused needles, exposure to cuts, open sores and other such wounds. It is not passed through breastmilk or saliva. Youve failed.

So, tell me again how a 6 pound baby should get this vaccine, if mom is nagative, and the risks of coming into contact with someone who does is slim? You cant. You trust the government, so just shut up and get on the bus.

If none of a child’s care-takers, and none of the child’s peers have Hep B, your child’s chances of getting it are about zero.

I find it to be INSANE that it’s illegal to keep a kid who is Hep B positive out of schools, but schools can prohibit perfectly healthy kids who haven’t been vaccinated for Hep B out of their schools. We live in a crazy, irrational world. Well, pro-vax zealots do.

  5. One question: why is the incidence of childhood disease exceedingly rare in the western world and less rare in the third world?

Whether you like it or not the answer is vaccines.

There is a ethical pillar in medicine known as Beneficence, which begets the physicians to ask, is the risk of treatment worth the benefit.

The U.S. uses an evidence-based model in medicine and according to this current model, vaccinations are recommended. Therefore, according to the peer-reviewed evidence the benefits of vaccinations outweigh the risks. Keeping in mind, the fact that if a risk is, an arbitrary, 1 in 100,000, the people that are affected by the “1” adverse reaction, the “chances or risks” do not matter to that individual. However as a society we would be irresponsible to not vaccinate our children. If an individual refutes the science proving this, they are an irresponsible member of society.

  6. My vaccinated daughter has excema. In our case it’s inherited. My unvaccinated grandmother passed it down to my father, to me, to my daughter. It was NOT caused by vaccines. Even if it was it’s a risk I will take, over and over again because whooping cough came to her school and her and I both caught it. Since we both are vaccinated we were able to fight the virus, or bacteria. Our immune systems were strong because when the vaccine exposed us to pertussis, we developed antibodies to fight it off when exposed, and we didn’t need to eat a dead human with pertussis or consume diarrhea. I don’t need to cite a website, or a celebrity comment to make my argument – just state the truth of my situation. My daughter was not hospitalized because of whooping cough, she will not die of measles, her immune system is strong, and I damn well am a selfish asshole when it comes to saving the life of my child and giving her the best chance at living.

    1. Would you feel the same if the side effect she “inherited” was autism? If she could never speak again? If she could only stare into the abiss, and her life tragically ended before it should have? Even if you say yes, and you’re willing to “take one for the team”, then shouldn’t you be compensated accordingly? Wouldn’t you think the manufacturer of the product that disabled and killed your child, should be responsible for it’s product? Well, normally, yes, but guess what? You’re SOL. Good luck proving your case against the entire medical industry, who just says, “it’s not related”. Even if you win, guess who’s footing the bill? Taxpayers! Not a dime will come from the manufacturer. Vaccines do harm. Period. If you want to risk it, fine. But, you don’t get to tell others what they HAVE to risk. It’s our choice, and it absolutely does not affect you.

      Liked by 3 people

      1. Oh it absolutely does affect me. I run the risk of loosing a newborn too young for vaccines if he or she is exposed to, say, measles. Every unvaccinated child runs the risk of exposing infants to a deadly disease. Are your children at risk of getting Smallpox? No, Smallpox is gone because the whole world got vaccinated against it and the disease only exists in labs now. Do you think the children of the vaccine manufacturers are vaccinated? Yes, yes they are. As are all the children of wealthy and powerful people. Why would they put their own children at risk if they thought the vaccines were potentially harmful?

        Like

    2. How do you know for a fact the excema is inherited? It’s being found now that excema is commonly caused by a lack of good bacteria in the gut, as with many skin disorders. Also, how are you so confident the vaccine enabled you and your daughter to fight pertussis and not just your normal immune system, when it’s sole purpose it to create antibodies for pathogens it’s exposed to? Up to 15% of people who are vaccinated end up not being immune for the disease, for many vaccinations. Isn’t it just as possible that the vaccine didn’t work in your case and your immune system naturally fought off the illness, as it’s designed to do?

      Liked by 2 people

      1. Um, pretty sure a vaccine would not have even been developed if pertussis was a “safe” thing to have. It kills people, that is why the vaccine was made in the first place, thats why all vaccines were made. There is nothing you are born with that fights off these diseases. We know this because millions of people died from them, even Native Americans who didn’t consume any GMO’s. If you want your children to be infected with measles or polio or any other potentially fatal diseases, fine, whatever works for you and your family. What concerns the rest of us is that your children put babies too young for vaccines at risk, or that 15% that the vaccines don’t work for. How would you feel if one of your children caught measles and was put into intensive care? How would you feel if one of your children exposed an infant to measles and that infant died? These are realities, not an opinion.

      3. Speaking for myself, I’d think the onus is on anyone pushing any sort of medical intervention to show it does work. Otherwise we might as well all be the same as the naturopathic anti-vaxxers, other CAM supporters and many promoters of ineffective allopathic interventions (e.g. antibiotics for head colds); just wasting our money and risking our health on treatments that lack evidence for their efficacy.

Fortunately there’s plentiful evidence that most common vaccines are safe and effective. As long as you’re not closing your eyes to it that is.

Where naturopaths are correct is that a healthy human body is well equipped to deal with many threats it may face without medical assistance. Often the best course of action is just to rest, eat and drink properly and let things resolve themselves. But anyone who would trust that principle to protect their children from diseases like measles, pertussis or meningitis is either irresponsible or stupid.

  8. In response to Sara: if I understand correctly, you attribute your experience in recovering complication free from pertussis to being vaccinated.
I wanted to respond because my 5 unvaccinated children and myself(who was vaccinated as a child but never received any boosters) all got pertussis last year. We got it from the kids’ fully vaccinated cousins. We all recovered without any complications, hospital visits, or interventions of any kind. My kids’ ages at the time were: 2, 4, 6, 9, and 11. I attribute our recovery to proper nutritional support before and during the infection. My point being:
Just because someone is unvaccinated does not mean their immune systems aren’t strong and it certainly doesn’t doom them to suffering from complications of disease.

    2. I agree. In my generation (I’m 57), measles were just another childhood illness. It was not fun, but it was no big deal. (Ditto the mumps, chicken pox, German measles, influenza. I survived them all! I think I had mumps and chicken pox at the same time. My parents took a picture!) I was by no means unusual. I also remember very distinctly as an older child, first hearing of autism. It was exceedingly rare. So were food allergies and autoimmune diseases.

Proper nutritional support and common sense like keeping sick kids home and washing hands frequently makes a world of difference. Yes, measles *can* kill, but that’s much more likely to be the case in a Third World scenario where poor sanitation, unsafe water and malnutrition are endemic. Those numbers are added in to inflate adverse events in U.S. measles infections. Of course, nutritional standards in the U.S. have also declined, which takes a toll.

  9. So in point 1, I’m assuming the “1/40th” is the 100 deaths from chicken pox in the CDC link vs. the 4,000 SIDS death in the CDC link. Can someone explain to me how all 4,000 SUID (including 720 specifically noted as accidental suffocation/strangulation) are “vaccine-induced”?

  10. The first point attempts to link vaccines to SIDs with the term “vaccine-induced SIDS”.

It links to the CDC website to presumably provide citation. On the left panel of the CDC website there is a related link titled “SIDS and Vaccination”.

The first two sentences on that page read: “From 2 to 4 months old, babies begin their primary course of vaccinations. This is also the peak age for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The timing of these two events has led some people to believe they might be related. However, studies have concluded that vaccinations are not a risk factor for SIDS.”

  11. This is EXACTLY the kind of pseudoscientific but touchy feely thing that people read and then in their own minds twist into “facts”:

“The vast majority of children with the new “normal” autoimmune diseases are vaccinated: asthma, allergies, and eczema. The vast majority of completely unvaccinated children do not have these chronic illnesses.”

This is presented as if there is a contrast between these two things, and it leads the reader to draw conclusions about the parallels between vaccination and autoimmune diseases. But read it again.

Since the vast majority of children are vaccinated, the first sentence is self-evident. Since the second sentence reflects the reality of the incidence of the autoimmune diseases, it is also self-evident. The sentences have NOTHING to do with each other, and you could just as easily say (and should say) that the vast majority of vaccinated children do not have these chronic illnesses.

At its best, this is seriously bad writing. At its worst, it is intentionally deceptive. Either way, it is indicative of the kind of nonsense that many of the anti-vaccination arguments use.

Let me rephrase it for you.

The vast majority of children who have died before the age of 5 are vaccinated. The vast majority of completely unvaccinated children did not die before the age of 5.

That is COMPLETELY true, and at the same time say ABSOLUTELY nothing about vaccinations whatsoever.

    Or how about:

The vast majority of children who have a genius IQ are vaccinated. The vast majority of completely unvaccinated children do not have a genius IQ.

    Equally true. Equally irrelevant.

      1. What really scares me is this: Since the main source of “information” for anti-vaccination advocates is each other’s blogs, my ridiculous (but true) examples will probably end up quoted somewhere else as gospel truth and significant cause to not vaccinate. That’s probably how #8 crept in here in the first place. But I bet it will only be the one about deaths, and not the one about genius IQ.

  12. There’s a couple of things we can agree on and I support the main point of your post – that pro-vaxxers are nearly as dishonest and irresponsible as anti-vaxxers with their propaganda.

But this post is chock-a-block with the sort of non-sequiturs, sloppy thinking and perniciously misleading nonsense that typifies the anti-vaccination movement.

I’m happy to go through them point by point if you so request, but perhaps the sickest is your attempt to not only link vaccines to SIDS despite a complete lack of evidence, but to include a link that implies the CDC supports your false allegation.

To paraphrase you, go ahead and click all over the CDC website and find one instance in which they give the slightest credence to the notion there is such a thing as ‘vaccine induced SIDS’. You never know, you might accidentally clink on this link in which they debunk it.

Nice work Quackenboss. There’s a real possibility you’ve just induced a world of misplaced guilt in the already grief stricken parent of a SIDS victim with your dishonesty.

    1. There is no “Anti-Vaccination Movement”, there are mandated vaccine movements and hate mongering movements but until you see “anti-vaxxers” rallying and picketing, there is no “movement”. Non-Vaccinating Families simply want to maintain their medical autonomy and freedoms of informed consent or refusal, rights that are supported by the AMA code of Medical Ethics as well as the Geneva Conventions. The “Anti-Vaxxers” you speak of are calling only for more transparency and corporate responsibility in regards to vaccines, if Merck, Pfizer, The CDC and FDA were not currently up to their eyeballs in scandal I doubt there would be quite so many people questioning vaccine efficacy. It is true that The US and Canada have some pretty terrible standings in regards to infant mortality rates, as well as some of the highest rates of chronic childhood illnesses, and the fact that the possible connections have never been properly investigated bothers people (as it should). Nobody is trying to make people stop vaccinating, calling it a “movement” is inaccurate and just fuels this “us vs them” mentality.

    1. Independent study of what? The study the antivaxers all ask for is a large study of vaccinated children versus unvaccinated children. I cannot imagine the legal department of any entity that could afford to fund a study like that permitting it. It smacks of Tuskeegee and all you’d need is one measles death in the unvaccinated group and the injury lawyers would swarm like yellowjackets.

      1. Well, there’s all those huge retrospective epidemiological studies. But as they’ve all produced strong evidence against the anti-vax claim of a link between MMR and autism I guess by (anti-vax) definition they can’t be independent. After all, they were done by scientists and we all know they’re part of the conspiracy.

People throw ‘studies prove’ this and that around quite a lot but few question the integrity of the study. ‘Peer reviewed’ doesn’t buy much confidence either as only the final product of the study is being scrutinized. There’s no penalty for simply not publishing a study is it doesn’t reinforce your narrative. Likewise a study can be abandoned if it doesn’t seem to be giving the desired results.

      3. According to the complaints of pro-vaccine people, there are plenty of unvaccinated children around, and they could be tracked and compared to their vaccinated contemporaries. (Maybe three groups: unvaccinated, selectively vaccinated on a delayed schedule, and fully vaccinated according to schedule.) No, you couldn’t do a double-blind placebo-controlled trial, but that doesn’t mean a comparison would be worthless. Yes, there would be many confounding factors in such a prospective cohort study, and so would require careful analysis, but why not? Placebo-controlled double-blind studies may be the so-called gold standard of scientific research, but there are lots of cases where they are not feasible or appropriate, and yet we can still do other studies. But there’s no money for something like this, as the government funding is not forthcoming thanks to the undue influence of the pharmaceutical industry on public institutions like the CDC and FDA, and obviously no pharma manufacturer is going to spend money on studies that are not mandated and that could potentially threaten their profit. But it would be illuminating.

So suppose some ideologically minded parents (of either pro- or anti-vaccine persuasion) try to game the statistics by ensuring their little darlings get the best food, fresh air, exercise, etc., to sway the outcome. That would be little different from what happens naturally, as most well-meaning parents presumably feed their children as well as they can, given whatever level of nutritional knowledge they have (which is sadly low in the U.S. nowadays). If by feeding and caring for children optimally you can “get way with” not vaccinating your children — well, that would be worthwhile to learn, wouldn’t it? If you can give the same advantage to vaccinated kids by optimizing their nutrition — well, that would also be valuable information. If it were a wash and either vaccination/nonvaccination, or for that matter selective vaccination made the difference in a battery of outcomes, well, that’s what we’re trying to find out, isn’t it? I can’t see the downside of getting more information, unless one is so wedded to a particular viewpoint they can’t be persuaded. This applies to people on all parts of the vaccination spectrum.

  14. You still left out the absolute most important one: 1 in 50 kids has a mitochondrial dysfunction THAT MAKES THEM SUSCEPTIBLE TO GETTING AUTISM FROM VACCINES. That is an established fact, straight from the former head of the CDC, which they turn around and ignore immediately after admitting to it. The studies claiming no link to autism were done BEFORE they discovered this, and later that same head of the CDC was fired and basically became head of the vaccine industry. The British courts also recently threw out the conviction against Andrew Wakefield, who UNINTENTIONALLY discovered a possible link between autism and vaccines, and was vilified and had his entire reputation ruined over a study that WASN’T EVEN ABOUT ANY SUCH LINK. The anti-vaxxers are slowly losing a bit of ground, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they continue to do so, before the government tries to open the doors to forcing us to put these AND OTHER things into us against our will. Americans wouldn’t surrender their guns, it would be even more sad if they became stupid enough to surrender their own bodies.

      1. Absolutely true. The case skirts the line between civil and criminal offense, and unless the Crown (or State, not sure who prosecutes over there) can prove intentional fraud or damage, it really isn’t a criminal matter. In the US someone with standing would have to charge him.

However, he did lose his license to practice in the UK and was struck off the Medical Registry. I’m not a doctor but my parents and all four grandparents were, and I suspect a doctor would take a criminal conviction before losing his license to practice. He also will find it almost impossible to gain funding for any legitimate study. I have no evidence of the financial chicanery, so until he is found guilty, it means nothing.

He may not be in jail, but his career as a physician is pretty much destroyed.

      2. Yes, the commenter misspoke. Wakefield’s co-author had his medical license reinstated. They haven’t yet come around to forgiving Wakefield, and for political reasons probably can’t. I’m on the fence about this myself; reading what one side says vs the other is like night and day. But it seems to be Wakefield got very bad treatment. Even if his study were shoddy, as alleged, since when are researchers hounded out of their profession for mistakes? That should be reserved for those who commit out-and-out intentional frauds. Like, say, the pharmaceutical companies.

    1. Interesting. Do you have a cite on the mitochondrial defect predisposing 2% of the under 18 population having this defect and it’s association with vaccines? I’d appreciate it, thanks.

      Like

      1. Considering that mitochondrial disease is only known to exist in 0.03-0.05% of the population it’s gonna take a pretty fancy mathematical sleight of hand to produce that kind of evidence.

What she has got is one case. That of Hannah Poole whose parents successfully sued the CDC after she developed autism following a vaccination. She has a serious inherited mitochondrial disease and the plaintiffs successfully argued that it made her more sensitive to the vaccine and that’s what triggered her autism.

But there’s not a lot of good science being done in courtrooms.

  16. Great list! The whole vaccination debate itself is made completely irrelevant by historical facts alone which most Americans aren’t even aware of. As such, pro-vaxers technically lost this debate long before it even started (though politically, they may yet win it, to everyone’s eventual detriment). That’s because history itself bears out virtually all of the anti-vaxers’ concerns. American history is replete with examples of actual conspiracies (most of which are connected) that were carried out against the American people. How can one be so trusting of a government that callously infected a community of its own citizens with syphllis? Who would ask to be vaccinated at the hands of a government that held back on the cure for pellagra for two decades knowing full well that thousands of poor people would die a horrible slow death as a result? Why would anyone entrust their very life to a government that up to about 1970 had *sterilized* roughly 100,000 of its own citizen? Who in their right mind, at least peripherally aware that various municipalities here in the U.S. are making it ILLEGAL just to provide food to poor people would actually trust *anything* that the U.S. government says? WHEN WILL YOU PEOPLE GET A CLUE? YOU AND I ARE FILTH TO THOSE WHO CONTROL THE MACHINERY OF OUR GOVERNMENT! You pro-vaxers want to place your life (and everyone else’s) in the hands of the U.S. government; and all for what–the *supposed* prevention of a disease that my whole generation scoffed at just knowing that its threat to an otherwise healthy populace was practically a JOKE!!! It’s hard to believe that I used to be offended when others would call Liberals “pacifists!” Nowadays, I’m offended by the insult to Pacifism, for presumeably, at least a pacifist has some clue who the real G’damn enemy is!!! — the postman (truthbetold.strangled.net)

  18. I posted a link to this excellent article of yours on Facebook with a pro-vax acquaintance. Here are the comments I got in reply from his family members. Their comments got multiple likes while mine got none. I repost it here as evidence of truly ignorant people. I am afraid that the only thing which will change their minds is what changed mine: the illness, injury or death of their own.

Person 1: Ever read something so stupid it gives you Forrest Whittaker eye?

Person 2: So, in essence you are saying that if there was an anti stupidity vaccine, that there will be many antivaccine people in group therapy along with Mr. L. Quack.? I cannot believe in the ignorance or arrogance of otherwise intelligent people who believe that vaccinating their children puts them at risk. In actuality, not vaccinating puts many more children at risk than just their own. Read the real facts by real doctors who deal with real diseases every day, not some rabble rouser who hides behind an obvious alias! Please protect your children and others by getting your child(ren) vaccinated.

ME: My daughter almost died at 9 months from the Pertussis vaccine. That particular batch killed at least 17 children. Politically, I am also a libertarian. Sorry, [Person 2], but I guess we can agree on one thing: “A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.”

Person 2: While I can sympathize with your fear of vaccines, I cannot justify not vaccinating children to prevent devastating diseases. I almost lost a child in a car vs bicycle accident. By your reasoning, I should have advocated banning cars or children on bicycles instead of bicycle safety. One defective batch of vaccine does not mean all vaccines are bad. And there will also be the very small percentage of children who may have complications due to underlying causes in their system. I remember the effects of the polio epidemic and I am thankful that my parents cared enough to immunize me for all childhood diseases and can only hope that responsible parents everywhere do the same.

ME: By your reasoning, my dead child is insignificant to the common good. I have had people like you even post that their living child is worth my dead child. Thankfully, we still live in a country that values individual rights. Maybe by next year those will all be gone too.

Person 1: dead child? Where is the dead child? You stated that your nine year old ALMOST died.
Person 1: Rather: 9 MONTH old.

ME: Another vaccine, Rheta, and she might. It was an allergic reaction.

Person 1: That is rare and unfortunate, Katie. It is not, however, a good reason for others not to vaccinate. The research is overwhelming and hugely outweighs the rare occasions of reactions. I’m sorry you had to go through that with your baby. As a mother i can’t imagine how scary that must have been. I don’t blame you for taking the stance you take, but I could never agree with anti-vax practices.

I read the link when this was first posted and it did say to stay away from the recently vaccinated for MMR, Chicken Pox, etc. Now it has some minor mention of the FluMist and not to use the oral polio and then is goes on and on about how important vaccines are for the patient’s family and friends. But it was there earlier this year. Just thought you might want to know they updated that site in case you need to find a link of the original wording. Pretty sad that they are more concerned about being politically correct than the health of their patients, although I am betting that what they put in writing and what the physicians tell the parents are not the same thing.
